When Downloading, Choose “Save” or “Save To Disk”; Not “Open”

By default, if you choose to “open” your downloaded tunes instead of “saving” to disk, your browser will save your file to your “temporary internet files” folder.

The files in your “temporary internet files” folder are automatically cleaned up by your browser, so there is a risk that you may lose your downloaded file if you chose to open it instead of saving it to a safe folder.

You can either choose to save your download, or you can set you music player to automatically copy your download to your permanent music folder.

You can change the default behavior in iTunes by following these steps:

1. Go To Your iTunes® Preference Pane
   • On Windows, open iTunes®, then hotkey ( CTRL+, )
   • On Mac, open iTunes® then type hotkey ( ⌘+, )
2. Click On The “Advanced” Tab
   • Advanced Tab On Windows
   • Advanced Tab On Mac
3. Enable File Copying
   • Check the “Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library” checkbox
4. Click “OK”
